Emergency Financial Support

By CGordon 31 Mar 2020

The university have announced the details of their emergency financial support package, which aims to assist you with unanticipated accommodation, travel and subsistence costs, together with the purchase of any technology you may need to access online teaching or complete assessments.

With the generous support of our alumni, the package comprises:

Crisis Grants

Crisis Grants of up to £500 per student. These can be used to cover any exceptional costs you may have incurred in relation to accommodation and subsistence, travel and technology.  There is a very simple application process and grants are normally awarded within ten working days.  In processing these, students with chronic health conditions, disabilities and caring responsibilities will be prioritised.

Financial Hardship Grants

Financial Hardship Grants of between £500 and £1,500 per student, where the normal assessment criteria has been relaxed to ensure more rapid and targeted support to students in need.

The university are already in the process of distributing around £120K of emergency funding to students, as well as helping some of those who have found themselves stranded overseas in recent weeks whilst on study abroad and exchange programmes.

Exceptionally, the grants are available to those who graduate this summer and so you may apply at any time between now and 31 August 2020.
