How close is the Hall to the University?
Kelvinhaugh Street is approx. 10 minutes walk to the main campus and a 20 mins walk to the city centre.
Is there a bus that goes to the University from the Hall?
There are public services which run from Byres Road to Argyle Street at the end of Kelvinhaugh Street.
What is the emergency contact number?

Is there anyone available out of office hours?
After 6pm weekdays & 24 hours at the weekends there is always a Senior Resident available to assist with any problems.
Are there medical facilities near the Hall?
There are several doctors' surgeries near Kelvinhaugh Street; we will supply further information on your arrival in our accommodation.
What am I responsible for cleaning?
Your room and sharing the cleaning of the common areas of the flat (hallway, lounge, kitchen, toilet and shower) with your flatmates.
Does the residence have student cooking facilities?
Each flat has an electric cooker, a microwave oven, kettle and fridge freezer as it is a self catering residence.
Are cooking utensils, crockery supplied?
No, you must bring your own. We do supply an iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, brush, shovel, mop and bucket.
How can I recycle my waste?
There are blue recycling bins which are situated at the back of each block. Paper, cans, tins and plastic bottles can all be recycled. Glass recycling bins are available at Cairncross House car park for your use.
Can I bring my bike?
Yes, you can bring your bike. There is a lockable bike store situated at Kelvinhaugh Gate which opens with your room key. All bikes required to be registered and tagged, contact Reception for details. Please note that all tenants are responsible for making sure that their bicycle is adequately insured and secured. Our current insurance states:
Bike Cover - Theft Only from designated cycle storage on campus is covered.
Is there a car park attached to the Hall?
A permit is required to use the on street parking. Permits can be applied for using the following link: https://glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7639
Is there internet/ WiFi in the room?
There is an internet connection point and a Wi-Fi kit in every room. You will receive information regarding connection after your arrival. Internet charges are included in your rent.
Can I bring my own TV?
Yes, but it must be fitted with a correctly rated fuse, correctly wired plug and a cable in good order. Students must obtain their own TV license http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk for more details
What is the surrounding area like?
It is next to Kelvingrove Park, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Kelvingrove Sports Centre and the Museum of Transport. There are a number of small shops close by and the nearest Supermarket is only 10-15mins walk. Byres Road is nearby and offers shops, restaurants, supermarket, banks, post-office and lots of pubs! A quick tube ride from Byres Road will get you into the City Centre.
Do I need to take everything out of my room at Christmas and Easter Holidays?
No. As your contract includes the holiday periods you do not have to remove your belongings.
Can my friends stay overnight?
Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 outbreak we have been forced to suspend the overnight guest option in our residences. This will kept under review and will be reintroduced as soon as it is safe to do so.
What happens if I lose my keys?
You must let staff at Kelvinhaugh Residences know. Try to avoid carrying your keys with anything that would identify your address. A charge will be made for the replacement key.
What happens to my mail/parcel delivery?
Mail is delivered directly to the letter boxes at the front door of the flats. If an item is too big for your letter box, the postman will put a note in your letter box telling you where to collect it.
Will I have to share a room?
Anything else that would be useful for me to bring?
