During less turbulent times, the castle was a beautiful place for Scottish royalty to relax, enjoy hunting, raise family, and hold court. It was even home to young Mary Queen of Scots, James VI, and James I during their childhoods. Some must see features of this magnificent landmark are the Great Hall, Royal Palace, Chapel Royal, Great Kitchens, Queen Anne Gardens, Palace Vaults, and more.
