Wolfson Movie Nights - October

By CGordon 01 Oct 2019

Welcome back to another month of movie nights at Wolfson Hall!

We watch films every Sunday at 7:15pm in the Amenities Block. Come along and relax before the week of classes start. We provide free drinks and snacks at each movie night, but feel free to bring your own too.

Shrek - 6th October

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to save their home -- not to mention his -- Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) to be Farquaad's bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

Rated 7.8/10 on IMDb.

Hot Fuzz - 13th October

Hotshot police officer Nicholas Angel smells foul play when the residents of a sleepy Somerset village start to die in terrible `accidents'. Something's afoot, but can he and daft local plod Danny Butterman find out what?

Rated 7.8/10 - IMDb.

Blade Runner 2049 - 20th October

Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

Rated 8/10 on IMDb.

Sweeney Todd - 27th October

Evil Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) lusts for the beautiful wife of a London barber (Johnny Depp) and transports him to Australia for a crime he did not commit. Returning after 15 years and calling himself Sweeney Todd, the now-mad man vows revenge, applying his razor to unlucky customers and shuttling the bodies down to Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), who uses them in her meat-pie shop. Though many fall to his blade, he will not be satisfied until he slits Turpin's throat.

Rated 7.3/10 on IMDb.
